It is a great pleasure to invite you all again to join our salt-focused field trip to the Lusitanian and Algarve basins that will take place between 16th and 20th of October 2023. Geo Logica is thrilled to inform that is organising the third field trip for the AAPG Salt Basin Technical Interest Group (TIG) that will take place early this year in Portugal.

From salt tectonics and sediment interaction to its role in the energy transition, the upcoming course certified by the European Federation of Geologists (EFG) in association with Associação Portuguesa de Geólogos (APG) will take place in October 2023 are available with discounts up to 20%*

This highly technical field trip, especially designed for professional structural geologists and salt experts, will be led by Pedro Barreto of Geo Logica alongside Prof. Ian Davison (former Earthmoves and Royal Holloway - University of London) and Dr. Ricardo Pereira (FCT NOVA & Dom Luiz Institute, Lisbon).

Our field guides will take participants from salt diapirs (outcrops, salt mines and quarries) along the southern coast of Portugal to fortress towns built on top of intra-salt limestone stringers and examples of salt-sediment interaction along the West Atlantic Coast. This field trip will cover a multitude of salt-related themes, including implications on oil and gas exploration and production, geothermal energy, Carbon Capture and Sequestration and underground energy storage.
